FAQ

Where are we located:

BlackHawks Volleyball is a Plano based club. For the 2011 – 2012 Season we will practicing at VIP (Volleyball Institute of Plano), also known as Summit North where our teams will train on multiple courts in a dedicated Volleyball facility.

How long have we been a part of the North Texas Region:

Our club grew from one competitive team playing in Plano Recreational leagues to formally forming as a USAV North Texas Region club for the 2005 – 2006 season. We began with one 13’s team and finished that season with an impressive 11th place ranking in all of North Texas.

How competitive are our teams:

Since our inaugural season we have placed the majority of our teams in all age groups within the top 20 teams in North Texas. The North Texas Region is one of the strongest in the country where age divisions can carry from 80 to 150 teams making our clubs’ ranking among the best. With a new and extremely talented coaching staff that we have brought to BlackHawks Volleyball this season all of our teams will be ascending to new levels.

How many teams will we carry and what age groups:

For the 2011 – 2012 season we plan to have (1) 13's team, (3) 14's teams, (2) 15's teams, (2) 16's teams, and (1) 18's team.

Are we a travel team:

BlackHawks Volleyball has traditionally not included travel into our tournament schedule. For the 2009 – 2010 season less than 10% of teams that traveled from the North Texas Region managed to earn a National Bid out of state. Because of such a low percentage we do not embrace placing unwarranted financial burdens on the families of our younger players just for the sake of travel. If, on the other hand, one or more of our teams are in a very good position to earn a National Bid out-of-state we would at that time consider altering our tournament schedule in that pursuit. Additional costs would be discussed at that time. Our older teams will travel for one or more National Qualifiers to gain more college recruiting exposure.

When are our Tryouts:

Tryout dates are established by the North Texas Region Volleyball. For the youngest age groups they typically begin the last weekend in October and will continue each weekend thru the oldest age groups. Please check out our Tryout page for detailed information.

If we make your club what is included in the club dues:

  • • All Coaching Fees (Except private lessons requested by the parent/player)
  • • All scheduled team practices (2 practices per week for 2 hours each practice) except any additional time requested by the team and post season
  • • Full use of all of our training equipment
  • • 8 – 9 Tournaments including the Lonestar Classic National Qualifier
  • • Player scorekeeping/down ref certifications where applicable
  • • Full uniform package including: (2) Jerseys, (2) Spandex, (2) Pairs of Socks, (1) Full warm-up top and bottom with club logo and player name, (1) warm-up t-shirt, (1) Backpack.
What is not included in club dues:

Most all fees not included in regular club dues will only be incurred for travel. If no travel involved in teams season there will likely be no changes to season dues.

  • • Player Air and Hotel expenses
  • • Coaches travel (2) Head Coach and Assistant
  • • Coaches Post Season Coaching Fees
  • • Post Season Tournament entry fees
  • • Regular Season Tournament fees when substituted for National Qualifier
  • • Any other fees associated with travel
How much are your Season Dues:

BlackHawks Volleyball has always been among the Lowest Cost / High Quality clubs in the North Texas Region and will continue to deliver the highest quality coaching and club experience while making it affordable for every athlete to train. For the 2011 – 2012 Club Season our dues for each of our teams will be $2,800. Compare that to many Club dues ranging from $3,500 to over $5,000.
